  1. Instructions for Manual Installation if PINSTALL Fails.
  2. =======================================================

  4. The PINSTALL program finds and updates the Windows SETUP.INF file so 
  5. that all of the files necessary for the Panasonic Laser Printer Driver 
  6. to operate are automatically copied during the Windows Control Panel 
  7. "Add Printer" installation procedure.
  8.  
  9. If the PINSTALL program cannot find and update the SETUP.INF file, you 
  10. will have to manually copy the following three files from the diskette 
  11. into the Windows System directory:
  12.  
  13.     PANLP.HLP     the help file, containing the driver documentaion.
  14.     FINSTALL.DLL  the Soft Font installation program file.
  15.     FINSTALL.HLP  the help file for the font installer.
  16.  
  17. The PINSTALL program will display the correct names of your diskette 
  18. drive and Windows System directory.  You will need to know these names 
  19. no mattter which method you use to copy the files.
  20.  
  21. You may copy these files by your favorite method, including using the 
  22. Windows File Manager, the DOS COPY command, a disk management utility 
  23. program, or the batch file that we have provided.

  25. A fourth file, PANLP.DRV, is always automatically copied by Control 
  26. Panel during the "Add Printer" installation procedure.  PANLP.DRV is 
  27. the main printer driver program file.

  30. To copy the files using the batch file that we have provided:
  31. =============================================================
  32. You must type at the DOS C> prompt: 
  33.     the name of the batch file, 
  34.     the name of the diskette drive containing this diskette, and
  35.     the name of the Windows System directory.
  36. separated by spaces and followed by pressing the [Enter] key.

  39. For example, if the PINSTALL program displayed:
  40.     From diskette drive          A:
  41.     To Windows System Directory     C:\WIN\SYSTEM
  42.  
  43. you would then enter the following command to copy the three files:
  44.     A:MINSTALL A: C:\WIN\SYSTEM [Enter]

  47. Remember, you must still run the Windows Control Panel Printer Setup 
  48. procedure to configure and activate the printer driver.  See the 
  49. Windows manual and the help facility provided by this printer driver 
  50. (press the [Help] button on the main setup screen) for more information.
